Our Story
- Beginnings
In March of 2018, Jonathan moved to Louisville to go to Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. It wasn’t long before he found Ninth and O Baptist Church and started making friends. One of his first encounters was with Reydel, his now best man. Reydel invited him to a rodeo with some friends one of whom was Rachel Meredith. An hour-long car ride to Lexington KY proved to be a good way to get to get to know each other. Jonathan will confess that although he had just met Rachel, he liked her from the very beginning and was looking forward to getting to know her more. After a month or two of talking together after church and hanging out with friends, Jon decided it was time to take Rachel out to coffee.

- Getting Started
In August 2018, Jon suggested a walk around the lake at McNeely park. It appeared that the path would go all the way around the lake. But it did not. And surely it was faster to forge a new way forward rather than turn around and retrace steps. But it was not. So Jon and Rachel came out on the main road and walked back on a country road with no shoulder. And the half-mile walk turned into a five mile hike, complete with a skunk sighting. But it also provided plenty of time to talk, and by the end of the night the relationship was official.
-The Proposal
Fast forward through dating which included camping with friends in 20 degree weather, attending two weddings in Minnesota, hiking a mountain, and watching synchronous fireflies. In October 2019, Jon began designing Rachel’s engagement ring. He incorporated a floral design and family diamonds into a masterpiece. And on December 14th , 2019, Jon left a series of notes, pictures, and roses for Rachel to find and at the end asked her to marry him. She said yes!

WE'RE SO EXCITED
TO CELEBRATE WITH YOU
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be married on June 13th in a smaller scale, private ceremony.
Due to limitations on the size of gatherings, our original venue can no longer accommodate, and we are implementing a contingency plan. Clearly we will not be able to have the size of wedding we had planned, and we will miss you! We had originally communicated that a livestream of the ceremony would be available. Unfortunately, however, the livestream is also no longer an option under our new plans.
The support we have had around us during this season has truly been invaluable, and that makes it even harder to not have all the people we love around us on our wedding day. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience caused to you, as we know some of you were arranging travel, childcare, or work schedules. We would still like to find a time to connect with you as appropriate. We will be out of town after the wedding, but come July, please reach out so we can coordinate a Zoom chat and tell you all about the wedding. Maybe we’ll even be able to meet for coffee by then!
